On November 22, 2016, a federal judge in Texas halted the enforcement of the DOL’s new overtime rule until further notice. The rule, which was set to take effect on December 1, 2016, would have increased the salary threshold for the “white collar overtime exemptions” to $47,476 per year.
While the judge’s preliminary injunction may delay the implementation of this rule, it is possible that an appeal of the ruling may occur. Thus, we encourage all applicable clients to continue to watch for developments related to this rule.
